Hello, Family and Friends,
I woke with such a sense of abundance this morning. A good night's rest, the sun streaming through the windows, and a crisp, cool feel in the air. Though we still have many green leaves left to turn, we have plenty covering the ground with delightful reds, browns, and golds.
If you're new to this space, I want to warmly welcome you. I love to share old-school stories along with the trappings of my author world from time to time. So, thank you for inviting me into your circle. I hope my letters bring you joy and lightness to your day.
Mother's Day was my last correspondence with many of you. My calendar has been packed these last few months (like many of you, I'm sure). One event that took place was our May family reunion—the first since Dad passed in 2017. Highlights included new babies to snuggle, stories to tell, tears and laughter, fantastic food, and even some property repairs where our guys pitched in to help Momma.
My husband, James, and I also traveled some this summer. How magnificent is God's creation! We are so grateful for eyes in which to see this beautiful country we call home. There's so much more to tell, but I'm also interested in what's going on in your world. How was your summer? Did you have a family reunion or take a vacation? I'd love to hear your stories. Plus, I love getting letters. So, please don't hesitate to write back and share something that's going on in your life.
Today, I want to share something exciting. You might already be privy to the news if you are on social media. But don't feel like a second banana because I have a special link for you that won't appear on social media until next week. This is a sample of my newest creation, Cactus Cuties Coloring Book. It's a simple flip book with a bit of narration. Just click the arrow to the right to move through the pages.
From the Publisher section of the Cactus Cuties Amazon listing, I've included a sneak peek of more of the book's characters. You can use the QR code at the bottom of this letter to view the listing. The official release date is Friday, November 8th, but you can order it now. Could I ask a favor? If you purchase this cute little coloring book, would you kindly leave me an honest review? It would mean so much to me.
I owe a special thank you to my friend Sally Kashner for her mad editing skills on my upcoming children's book series and inspiring Cactus Cuties. She's an ideas girl. ;) And to Denise Wallnofer (Mary Dee, pen name) for partnering with me on the design work on the Amazon From the Publisher section. She is the calm, grounding soul of our author community. I have had so much fun collaborating with these ladies. They each have written children's books of their own, which are ideal for Christmas presents (too soon? LOL). I think you'll really like their work.
I pray you are all well. Drop me a line sometime.
Sending love and light, Lestie
Updates: You might remember Nancy Lee, a dear friend from when When Old School Meets New School was published. Nancy just published her first book, The Gift of Life: True Inspirational Stories of Hope and Healing amid Adoption, Infant Loss, and Unexpected Pregnancies. Her son-in-law is the photographer of the stunning pictures on the cover and interior of her book. Perhaps you know someone who might benefit from this book. It's available in hardback and paperback (black-and-white and color).
In my last letter, I mentioned I was working on a new children's book series. I have now completed the first story and am ready for a final edit. I have begun writing the second one in the series. I'll have more details to come soon.
I am still volunteering as a student mentor, teaching a Canva for Authors class as part of the Self Publishing Made Simple team. Our class grows in knowledge weekly, and it's so much fun learning and teaching new design skills. |
