Happy Thanksgiving

11/27/24

Hello, Family and Friends,

I wonder if you have been pondering the changes that have occurred this year, like I have. Here we are, the night before Thanksgiving 2024. Where have the last eleven months gone? Is time speeding up, or are we getting busier? Is global unrest at an all-time high, or is it that we have information overload, therefore being more aware of it? Full disclosure. I don’t know the answer to these questions. But what I do feel is a shift. Are you feeling it, too?

I began to feel this shift long before the pandemic but even more now, four years later. I believe we, as a people, are beginning to awaken and make space for more knowledge, understanding, and community. Am I the Lone Ranger here, or is anybody out there feeling this too?

One undeniable thing that I know is that God loves us with an unquenchable love—one that never tires, never shirks away, never is in part, but rather always desires wholeness, always desires unity, always draws us into His presence, and is always present in everything and everyone. Love knows no bounds, is abundant, and is available for every single one of us. I believe it’s written in our DNA (I don’t know that this has been scientifically proven, but I bet they’re working on it. 😉).

When we open our view to see the beauty in the simplest things, we realize just how much we really do have. Consider the lilies of the field. They don’t worry about the past or future. They cling to the light that each new day brings. They reflect the beauty of God in simple obedience. This Bible scripture writes it better than I can.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” - Matthew 6:30-31 MSG

This Thanksgiving, I want to focus and be thankful for this powerful feeling of being held by this incomparable love. We can choose to focus on the emotional pain of any given situation, or we can choose to focus on gratitude for what we hold dear, like family, and the things we take for granted, like the roof over our heads, running water, electricity, our vehicles, clothes, lilies, and trees.

The choice is ours.

What are you thankful for this year?

I am thankful for your friendship, especially for humoring my ponderings. Drop me a line when you can. I’d love to hear from you. If you happen to be in our neighborhood tomorrow, stop by and share a plate of abundance with us. We’d love to have you as our guest.

Sending love and light,

Lestie

Updates:

Have you had a chance to pick up a copy of my Cactus Cuties Coloring Book? It turns out consumers love it! It even made it to #1 New Release on Amazon. Woohoo! If you grabbed a copy, your purchase helped me get that ranking. Thank you kindly. Seeing the pictures folks have sent me so far puts a big smile on my face and makes my heart happy. If you haven’t had the opportunity to get it yet, I’ve included a QR code below to take you to the listing.

How about When Old School Meets New School? Have you had a chance to get a copy? Christmas is right around the corner. Perhaps you’ll consider these books as stocking stuffers this Christmas. Would you consider leaving an honest review for each if you have both copies? Pictures with the kiddos' coloring make for a simple yet effective review.

I continue to work on my children's book series as I have time. Notes and scribbles on my Big Chief notebook hold the makings of the second book. The first book has a springtime setting, but I’m now working on a summertime story.

I am taking a break for the rest of 2024 as a mentor/teacher for my Canva for Authors class as part of the Self-Publishing Made Simple team. I will focus on rest, prayer, and family for the rest of the holiday season. Have a blessed holiday.
