Happy Labor Day! Today's holiday pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of the American worker. But, did you know many other countries observe this holiday as May Day or International Worker's Day in the month of May? Many Americans take advantage of this three-day weekend by joining in some outdoor recreation. When I was young, our family took the weekend to go camping. How do you and your family celebrate the holiday?
Labor Day this year is a lot more poignant to me. I'm thankful I live in an era where my efforts could go into writing and publishing my book When Old School Meets New School, 7 Keys for Bridging the Gap of Respect rather than working painstakingly long hours for a pittance.
It has taken me over two years for this book to come to fruition. Countless days, I put in more than 12 hours apiece. But it was I who controlled the working hours. It has honestly been a labor of love. I can hardly wait for you to read it!
You might already know that this book honors my dad, Buzz May - a working man. There were many occasions in any given year when he worked 12-hour days. Much different than my 12-hour days, I assure you. Dad was an electrician, and for many years, he was the on-call tech. When the storms rolled in causing an outage, Dad was one of those on the scene restoring power. I am thankful for the example he set, taking pride in doing an honest day's work and providing for his family.
I hope your weekend has been restful and enjoyable. I am honored to have you along on this journey. Work and life are so much sweeter when you have friends.
These are the events past and on the near horizon: 1. My Kickstarter campaign was a huge success with pledges exceeding my goal. What an amazing experience. We completed the campaign on August 25th. 2. I placed my Formax order on Monday, August 28th for the first print run. This order will fulfill all the Kickstarter reward packages that my backers pledged as well as any website orders up to this point. 3. I hope to have all orders from my website and Kickstarter campaign fulfilled by mid-September. This will give me time to prepare for the worldwide launch of the book in October. Pinch me! Is this real? 4. Amazon has been changing its pricing structure for distribution. So, I had no choice but to raise the price of my coil-bound version book to $29.50. Pricing on every aspect of the family budget has gone up. The book printing world is no different. But, you can still pre-buy on my website for $23.99 plus shipping. However, this price will only be good from now through September 2023. So, if you didn't get in on the Kickstarter campaign to get your book copy, hop on over to lestiemayzachary.com and get yours while the price is reduced. 5. Next week, I will be working with a new formatting company for the eBook version for Amazon purchases. The audiobook version will follow suit, hopefully.
Sending love and light,
